Pickin' Peaches

Our little peach tree has flourished once again. This time, I remembered to pick the peaches BEFORE the dogs, bugs, and birds got to them.
I had a little helper this year who was eager to see and eat the peaches.
I counted 19 total, which is a tad more than last year. I have been hoarding these and trying not to eat them all in one sitting because they are very juicy and flavorful.
Here is our tree from when it was just a sapling here.

We're Having Another Gilburt!

On April 1, I took a pregnancy test. It was a clear positive reading, but I didn't want to tell anyone that day in fear that they would think it was an April Fool's joke. Chris was out of town for the week so I kept my little secret until he came home. Since it was close to Easter, I found an Easter egg and put a little note inside of it that said, "There's another egg in the basket coming in December!" Chris was just as excited as I was. We tried telling Eli, but he doesn't understand just yet.
I went to the doctor once I was at 10 weeks. Doctor said everything looks good and baby is doing great. I went back for my 14 week appointment last week and the heartbeat was at 156. My old wives' tales are pointing me towards a girl, but will have to wait until mid-July to find out.
We told our parents around Mother's Day, as that seemed most appropriate. Both sides are very excited about a new grandchild. It just so happened that my sister-in-law (my older brother's wife) is expecting too and on the same day as me! What a wonderful surprise.
Every day it becomes a bit more real that our family of three will be a family of four by the end of the year. God has blessed us with another child and we are grateful for this opportunity to be parents again.

Good Friday 2015

On Good Friday, my sister took Eli to the local bank to have his picture taken with the Easter Bunny. Last year he loved it. This year...not so much.
That night, we got together for our annual egg dyeing party at my sister's house. My sis had the two kiddos decorate cupcakes before the eggs. They had a great time making a mess and doing very little decorating on the cupcakes.
They loved getting to help in the kitchen.

And they loved eating everything.

I got one picture with my little stinker before he really went crazy with the egg dye.

Easter Card 2015

I had some really good coupons through Shutterfly so I made some Easter cards to send out to our parents and grandparents.

Happy Easter!

Eli's Easter Pictures 2015

Yeah, I'm late on this, but I wanted to get it posted sooner or later.

Here are Eli's Easter pictures. I was worried that they wouldn't turn out well because he was being a little toot that day and wouldn't sit still for very long. But, I was surprised. They turned out adorable and captured his personality so well.

He was singing "Let it Go"

He looks too grown up in this picture for me

This last one is definitely my favorite. His cheeky smile says it all.
Our little guy has grown so much since last year's pictures here.

Sylvester Easter 2015

Easter Saturday at Grandad's was so much fun. There was so much talking, eating, and laughing. I love being with my big and loud family.
You can see last year's post here
Grandad got the 4 wheeler and trains ready for the kids to ride in. This is the highlight of the day as the parents laugh and wave when the kids pass by.
Eli got to ride with his cousins
Then came the egg hunt. Eli loved it!
He was quick to catch onto the concept and went for it.
Picking up the good stuff to be eaten later

And he's also egg hunting barefoot because we are Bohemian.
Later, Chris got to drive the 4 wheeler and Eli was his sidekick. I love these boys in my life.

Sylvester Grandkids picture I forgot to add:
We've added three babies since last Easter and one more on the way with my cousin. We're up to 18 great-granchildren and still counting.

CRHP Breakfast

My CRHP (Christ Renews His Parish) Group has been getting together the first Saturday of the month for almost two years ago. We attended the weekend retreat together in April 2008 and continue to see each other to catch up and offer prayers to one another.
March was my turn to host the breakfast after Mass. I perused Pinterest in hopes of finding a delicious, yet super easy recipe for a breakfast casserole. I used this one and will use it again. This was ridiculously easy and even I couldn't mess it up.

I started with biscuits on the bottom.
I added cooked breakfast sausage and cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top of the sausage.
I poured 8 beaten eggs with salt and pepper on top before putting it in the oven for thirty minutes.
The finished product. There was plenty of leftovers for the hungry boys in my house.
I got my pretty coffee mugs and sugar bowl, from my Meme's house, out for the breakfast.
I also made twisted cinnamon rolls (from a can) and displayed them on my pretty stand that I rarely use.
I forgot to take a few pictures of the ladies who came to my house. It was nice to chat with them and see how they are doing. They are such a caring and sweet group of women. We've been together through many trials and tribulations and always find a way to lift one another up. I look forward to many more first Saturdays with these ladies.

Snow Days

We had three snow days this year. The first two were mainly ice, but the third day we got real snow.
He was mesmerized by the ice and was ready to go play in it.
The first snow day, I took Eli out with the dogs. He loved it, despite frequently falling down on the ice.
Giving me a frozen smile
Selfie with my little guy
He loved eating the ice
Here's a video of Eli eating the ice.
We bundled up and walked to my mom's house. We looked silly bundled up.

Our house on snow day #1
The next snow day was a lot colder. We bundled him up like Randy from A Christmas Story. He lost his mittens so we put baby leggings on his hands/arms.
The Lytles picked us up and we headed to my parent's to slide down their hill.
Eli peering into the distance.
The kiddos loved being pulled on the boogie boards in anticipation for our beach vacation in Florida this summer.
They were ready to go!
