Canning Pickles with Grandma 2015

My sis and I wanted to can pickles with my grandma again. We missed it last year and missed not having that time with our grandma and the jars of pickles to eat throughout the year.
My grandma agreed to help out (take over) and we made a day of it.
The basic ingredients. We actually found out that we didn't need celery seed like my grandmother insisted on.
Grandma scrubbed and prepped the cucumbers.
Bri and I prepped the jars.
And the cucumbers were ready for pickling. We made around 16 jars of pickles that will be ready in a few weeks. It was nice to chat with my grandma and hear her stories of growing up. We know that time is precious and we don't want to miss one memory or story that she shares.
You can see our canning memories from 2013 and 2012.

Pickin' Peaches

Our little peach tree has flourished once again. This time, I remembered to pick the peaches BEFORE the dogs, bugs, and birds got to them.
I had a little helper this year who was eager to see and eat the peaches.
I counted 19 total, which is a tad more than last year. I have been hoarding these and trying not to eat them all in one sitting because they are very juicy and flavorful.
Here is our tree from when it was just a sapling here.

We're Having Another Gilburt!

On April 1, I took a pregnancy test. It was a clear positive reading, but I didn't want to tell anyone that day in fear that they would think it was an April Fool's joke. Chris was out of town for the week so I kept my little secret until he came home. Since it was close to Easter, I found an Easter egg and put a little note inside of it that said, "There's another egg in the basket coming in December!" Chris was just as excited as I was. We tried telling Eli, but he doesn't understand just yet.
I went to the doctor once I was at 10 weeks. Doctor said everything looks good and baby is doing great. I went back for my 14 week appointment last week and the heartbeat was at 156. My old wives' tales are pointing me towards a girl, but will have to wait until mid-July to find out.
We told our parents around Mother's Day, as that seemed most appropriate. Both sides are very excited about a new grandchild. It just so happened that my sister-in-law (my older brother's wife) is expecting too and on the same day as me! What a wonderful surprise.
Every day it becomes a bit more real that our family of three will be a family of four by the end of the year. God has blessed us with another child and we are grateful for this opportunity to be parents again.
