Fall Festival

Our town had it's annual Autumn Days Fall Festival this past weekend. My mom and I took Eli and Marley to the festival, since my sister was out of town. It was a little warm, but it was a nice day to go out.
We put them in the double stroller and that proved to be a bad idea because they were constantly hitting each other or throwing each other's toy.
They had a pumpkin patch set up for people to take pictures
My sweet boy loved that he could walk around and touch the pumpkins
We managed to get a picture of the Sylvester great-grandchildren who were at the festival (5 out of 17..so not that many)
They had a really cute setup for pictures including this sign that said "Happy Fall Y'all" and a large picture frame. There was a long line so we tried to take as little time as possible.

It was a fun day to enjoy the sunshine and the season of fall.

State Fair of Texas 2014

We took Eli to the State Fair a few weeks ago on a Friday night. We didn't have time to do everything we wanted, but we did get to feed animals, eat some good food, and see Big Tex.

Eli loved petting the animals and even let them eat out of his hand.
I only got to try one famously fried food this year. I tried the fried spaghetti and meatballs. It was tasty and had a chicken parmesan flavor to it.
We got to see Big Tex and Eli was hypnotized by the tall man staring at him.
My favorite picture from the fair

Some family pictures

And one daddy and Eli shot
By 8:30, this guy was pooped and slept in the stroller the rest of the time. While he slept we bought a high-powered vacuum, dip and soup mixes, and a jewelry cleaner.
There were a few more things I wanted Eli to see, but there's always next year.

See our visit to the fair last year here and 2012 here

Pumpkin Carving with Eli

On Sunday night, we bought pumpkins to carve as a family. This was Eli and Chris's first year to carve pumpkins. I always assumed that Chris had carved pumpkins before, but I guess it's a bigger event over here than the UK.
We laid a tablecover on the floor and got to carving. Eli was more amazed with the pieces of pumpkin that fell from carving than the actual process.
He loved to munch on the pumpkin bits
Loves that pumpkin!

My sweet boy chowing down
Chris's first pumpkin carving
He did a great job as a first timer and even better than most people carve....ahem myself

We had Eli put Mr. Potato Head parts on his little pumpkin
This was so much fun. I can't wait for more fall festivities!

Eli is Eleven Months Old

Eli is 11 months old! I can't believe in one month that we will be celebrating his first birthday!! My heart is not ready for him to be a toddler and no longer considered a baby. I spent an afternoon packing away outgrown clothes and babyish toys. I had tears in my eyes as I thought of him in each outfit and slobbering on rattles.

Eli has had an eventful month. He is now on the move in full force around the house and anywhere else his little legs can go. He also cut his first teeth this month; he has one on the top and two on the bottom.
He does the have the occasional bad hair day, but he's usually not bothered by it
He still loves bath time no matter where it takes place
He's much better at self-feeding and gets most of the food in his mouth
I love to see this sweet boy snuggled up on me
The boy has a lot of hair...it's going to be time for his first hair cut soon
I love my little boy in overalls
He's starting to look more like a toddler
Don't worry, we didn't let him eat the Blow Pop
He likes playing with cars
Love my smiley boy
He loves to stand by these poles in our house

His 11 month picture
And this is where I cry. My little boy is growing up too fast.
